Jehan Carter aka "J. Carter" is an industry dynamite out of Washington, D.C. J. Carter is building herself as a brand: attorney, producer, writer.
Growing up in Washington, D.C. the arts have always been a part of her life through dance, drama and music. From acting in all the Shakespeare plays while attending school on Capitol Hill to playing the violin with the D.C. Youth Orchestra on the Kennedy Center stage; to dancing with the Dance Theatre of Harlem and then choreographing for the University of Virginia dance teams where she attended college, the arts background has given her a rich and rewarding experience. Alongside her arts background, her exposure to the law has been equally gratifying. From mock trials beginning in elementary school through college; then as a student ambassador for the Holocaust Museum at the Millennium at the White House focusing on genocide to earning all three Gold, Silver and Bronze Congressional Award Medals honoring my youth activism and volunteer service. Throughout her experiences, she was told that she would have to choose between the arts and the law for a career, and law was a better career choice. She decided to prove this seemingly logical advice wrong by combining the two and giving some hope to the many artists who choose to follow their passion, but still need representation. She believes she can participate and contribute in both worlds.
J. Carter is a graduate of New York Law School and the University of Virginia. She balances her new legal career with her new venture Donne Belle Productions LLC, is a boutique production/consultation company that produces book, TV and Film projects as well as branding and busines/legal services for projects, companies and individuals. In 2009, Carter published her first book, People Hate'Em Really Do!® Moments: Ten Principles to Live By, available on Amazon.com and BarnesandNobles.com. In 2010, Carter debut her first documentary, "Pollywood Nights" which explores the Hollywood and political fusion in the Obama era in the Nation's Capital. Carter continues to follow this "Pollywood" phenomenon as the community news producer and reporter for Channel WUSA 9, online at http://wusa9.com and for local cable station DCTV.
In 2011, J. Carter was selected as Miss Washingtonian Galaxy 2011. She used her title to promote the Congressional Award Medal for Youth that she received in 2002. Carter's Donne Belle Productions produced the DC Campaign commercial for the Award to encourage local students to participate in this rewarding program.
