Why buy some newfangled bikes, gear and other thingies when you can purchase bikes for a fraction of the cost, find clothing and swap parts all in one place? If this sounds like a perfectly reasonable and practical use of a Saturday to you, head on down to the North Hall of the Eastern Market on April 2nd for the First Annual Pedal Pusher’s Bike Swap.  Hours are 8:30 am -2 pm and you can find it at the corner of 7th Street NE and North Carolina Avenue.

Friends of Watkins and Buchanan Parks invite you to participate in the 34rd Annual Peter Bug Day Parade and Festival in Ward 6 on Saturday, May 21. The theme is “Unity in the Community.” We ask that you join the parade in a car, on a bike, or on foot. The parade will form between 9 and 9:30 AM at 19th and E Streets SE, across from Congressional Cemetery. It will feature marching bands, cheerleader squads, the Super Bowl-winning Watkins Hornets, mounted police, ROTC, dog walkers, antique cars and more. The route will wind through Ward 6 neighborhoods from Barney Circle to Eastern Market on both sides of Pennsylvania Avenue, ending at Peter Bug’s Shoe Repair Academy at the corner of 13th and Peterbug Matthews Way SE.
