Brookland Neighborhood Association to Meet With ANC Candidates

On Tuesday, October 19, the Brookland Neighborhood Civic Association will hold a meeting.

The meeting will feature conversations with candidates for the the Advisory Neighborhood Commission.  Some candidates that are expected to be in attendance include Jehan Ashley Carter and John Daggett.

The meeting will be held at 7:00 p.m. in the Margot Hall Cafeteria of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church.  The church is located at 3400 12th Street, NE.

ANC 5C to Meet on October 19

The Advisory Neighborhood Commission 5C will meet on Tuesday, October 19 at 7 p.m..

The meeting will take place at Trinity College, located at 125 Michigan Ave NE
Washington, DC 20017.

The ANC 5C holds a meeting on the third Tuesday of each month.

Office of Planning Meets to Discuss D.C.'s Comprehensive Plan, Talks Brookland Area

The Brookland neighborhood was discussed by the D.C. Office of Planning when they met to consider amendments to the city's "Comprehensive Plan".

The "Comprehensive Plan" documents the future of D.C., and focuses on all parts of city life---from housing to transportation.

One amendment up for consideration centers around the Brookland Metro stop:

"Improve pedestrian safety and access to the Brookland/CUA Metro Station by linking west and east Brookland along Monroe and Michigan Avenue and particularly by encouraging access between the 12th Street Main Street Retail Core and the surrounding neighborhoods by promoting active and well designed streetscapes along the named cross streets east of the Metro Station Area."

5A Advisory Neighborhood Commission Meeting This Wednesday, September 22nd

On Wednesday, September 22nd, the 5A Advisory Neighborhood Commission will meet at 6:30 p.m.. The meeting, which takes place on the fourth Wednesday of every month, will be held in the Providence Hospital’s St. Catherine Hall in the Rossi Auditorium.

The meeting will be focused on community concern as well as police reports.  Guest speakers will include: 

  • Ian Leahy –DDOT & UFA Community Outreach Specialist
  • Councilmember Harry Thomas, Jr.

The ANC 5A includes the communities of Brookland, Fort Lincoln, Fort Totten, Lamond-Riggs, Michigan Park,  North Michigan Park, Queens Chapel, and Woodridge.
