All this week, I have been previewing films for this weekend's REEL Independent Film Extravaganza in Washington D.C. Today I'll be sharing films that center around women.
Saturday's 12PM opening film, Butterfly Crush, comes to RIFE all the way from Australia and New Zealand. Butterfly Crush is an up-and-coming female song and dance duo poised for success. But when one half of the duo gets involved with a cult, everything threatens to come unraveled. Director Alan Clay will be in attendance from New Zealand.
Also at 12PM on Saturday is American University graduate student Lawrence Dortch's One Punch at a Time. This nine minute short documentary follows Asia Stevenson, an 18 year old Washingtonian hoping to qualify for the first ever U.S. Women's Olympic Boxing team and compete in the 2012 Olympics.
