In the Name of Paws: Fashion for Paws 2011 Runway Show | Arts & Culture
Draping chiffon, hot pink lighting, fresh flowers, 5 star menu and a happening D.J. This isn’t “Platinum Weddings” this was the scene at the National Building Museum Saturday night for the Fashion for Paws 5th annual runway show benefitting the Washington Humane Society. The event was hosted by D.C. media blogger Pamela Sorensen of Pamela’s Punch and Entertainment Tonight’s Lawrence Zarian. Models alongside their beloved pets wore high end fashions sponsored by Tysons Corner Galleria and worked a runway adorned with hot pink lit trees and a hot pink fire hydrant that was the center piece on the runway.
Fashion for Paws is one of the top events to go to in Washington and has grown considerably since its humble beginnings in 2007. This year’s turnout was estimated to be over 1500 guests with $3,000 VIP tables and $200 VIP individual tickets sold out. Most of this can be contributed to the dedicated and energetic, Executive Director Tara De Nicolas. Alongside some of the most beautiful socialites in D.C., were the celebrity faces of Bravo’s Paul Wharton and Lynda Erkiletian, News 4 Anchor Eun Yang, Radio Personalities Jeannie Jones aka "Kitty of the City" (WKYS) and Tommy McFly (94.7), and even a Congressman, Rep. Michael Grimm, R-N.Y. As the reigning Miss Washingtonian Galaxy I also made an appearnce on behalf the Galaxy International Pageant.
The event raised approximately $500,000 all in the name of “love” for “paws” !
