Power Companies Gearing Up for Thursday Storms

WASHINGTON, D.C. (WUSA9) -- Myra Oppel was sitting in her office at Pepco's Headquarters when the Derecho of 2012 hit. 

She watched as the power company's outages jumped from a few thousand to almost half a million. By the time it was all over, more than two-million people in Virginia, Maryland, and the District were in the dark, and it would take nearly two weeks before all the power was restored.

Almost a year later, Oppel met with WUSA9 to discuss what Pepco's doing to prepare for this latest round of storms. 

4 Stabbed At D.C. Nightclub

WASHINGTON (WUSA) -- D.C. Police say four people were stabbed around closing time at the Stadium Club in northeast.

According to authorities, after 3 a.m. a fight broke out inside the club located at 2127 Queens Chapel Rd. leading to the stabbing of the four adult males. Police say the injured individuals were transported to a hospital and that one of them was admitted and undergoing surgery for non-life threatening injuries.

Police say they don't know exactly what started the fight but they are looking for a suspect described as a black male, dark complexion, 5'10" to 5'11" and about 170 lbs. 

The club's promotional material indicated that it was hosting a party with Joseline Hernandez, star of VH1's "Love and Hip Hop."

Guests had the unique opportunity to tour the designers' homes, who offered a rare behind-the-scenes look at their residences while also sharing insight into the process of designing homes for some of the DC area's celebrities.

Did DC 911 Call Taker Hang Up On Armed Robbery Victim?

WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- Did a 911 call taker in DC repeatedly hang up on a woman who had just faced down an armed robber?

That's the allegation that's careening around the Brookland neighborhood in Northeast.

But a spokeswoman for DC Office of Unified Communications says while three calls did come in, the call taker never heard anyone on the other end of the line.
